Girl Scouts Take the Lead

Girl Scouts and their leaders have joined JBWS in its efforts to prevent dating and domestic abuse. The result is impressive! Take a look at some examples of how girls are using their creativity and influence to increase community awareness about this important issue.

  • R.E.A.C.H. for Healthy Relationships is an Interest Project Award created to encourage other girls to get involved in promoting healthy dating relationships and preventing abuse.

  • Bronze, Silver and Gold Award projects have resulted in 1) public awareness events reaching parents and girls of all ages; 2) donation drives to benefit victims of abuse and their families; 3) newspaper articles educating thousands of readers; and 4) the creation of school clubs and awareness campaigns.

  • Troops are sponsoring theatrical performances and discussions on dating abuse prevention for their girls.

The partnership between JBWS and the Girls Scouts of Northern NJ grew out of a mutual desire to promote self-worth, social conscience and leadership among girls.
